Large Scale Dark Room Work

Although there is a lot of contrast between the darkest points of this image and the lightest, the mid tones don't have much variation, making this image seem quite dull and  un-impactful from a distance.

I really like this image, but there are hardly any dark areas, making it still too dull/un-impactful. I think this has come as a result of the dark room pieces themselves, rather than as a result of being blown up to a large scale. All of these images were blown up to A2 width, but have varying lengths.

This was the best of the three, with the most contrast and detail, giving a very interesting texture.

These two images were blown up from my original dark room pieces, but I thought that they kept their intricacy and the dramatic contrast in both images makes them really effective for drawing the eye.

Texture (fossils)

My bathroom tiles have fossils in them, which is pretty exciting.

Texture (mineral)

More of an implied texture through the pattern, as the stone had been smothed down.

Acetates + Textures

Combining the acetates with my paper prints, both negative and positive. Again, I think they create beautiful effects on camera but are a little too busy in real life.

Mixed Textures

Combing my acetate prints to make more interesting patterns. I think because of the glare they look too busy in real life but I think the photos are quite beautiful.

Textures

The textures I've been working with, objects scanned to a high resolution so the focus is on the texture over the object.
